My least favorite thing is to talk about art. To pull out on the intellectual level those processes that belong to the sensual, subconscious, intuitive. The most accessible way to fathom that is to call it simply: Tao.
Truth chained in words ceases to be Truth. Fortunately, I found the method of fables to pack some sense into what doesn’t need to be defined. But That is much bigger than any constraint. I always feel that I betray something, maybe the quietest part of myself, when I work on copy for my artworks: descriptions, annotations, instructions. Words have that sense of definition, determination, division, exclusion. Everything opposite to what art is really about. That’s why we listen to music. Music doesn’t cut existence harshly out of matter. (mater, Mother). Even words are bigger than words. That’s why I draw, or paint. That’s why I still do that. Even though I understood its causes when I was 3 and super lucky to have plenty of support, visual stimulation, and inspirational invitations to create. Words are just a surface, the thorax of something much more fascinating, unexplainable. Apparently I endeavor to depict the Physical as not so physical at all. It’s ephemeral, moving, running away, as we lose all the beauty in the next moment. Yes, I want to stop it. But that’s just words. About. Experience.
While art is: Experience. About. Experience.
How to mantle something that is much bigger than me, bigger than my understanding, into a tight sandbox of words? Apparently I convey that everyone is a universe, everyone is unfathomable. In my art and outside it.
It’s like poetry. It’s aimed to embrace the impossible. And I deal with the demand of reality to explain my art. Ex – out. Plain is plain. Bland, basic, boring, reduced to consumption, chewable. I’m sure those who are buying my art didn’t need to understand; instead of that, they felt something. But here I am.
It is slightly irritating that all of society feels okay not understanding how algorithms work, or how AI works. But people need to understand things that are absolutely inappropriate for understanding, like art.
Describing, and especially explaining, art processes is against Nature. Only the late stage of capitalism makes me do that here.
