Late Spring (oil pastel on black paper) is a luminous landscape with a quiet moment of closeness. Two male figures stand in the lower right, faces touching—either a kiss or the breath before it—partly held in shadow. The rest of the composition opens upward: two tall tree trunks on the left, a canopy of green and yellow marks, rolling blue-green hills, and a bright field of yellow flowers near the lower left.
The black paper gives the work its glow. Greens and yellows shimmer, blues deepen, and highlights sit on the surface like light caught in leaves. The figures are rendered in layered color—reds, blues, violets—so they feel integrated with the landscape rather than staged in front of it.
This piece is ideal for a space where you want color, calm, and tenderness without sentimentality. It reads beautifully from a distance (strong vertical trees, bright meadow) and rewards close viewing with textured pastel marks.
