Graphics is where you’ll find my drawing practice at full range—from quick, direct life studies by soft pastel and charcoal to newer, more developed oil pastel works. The core of this section comes from several years of evening figure-drawing sessions in New York: charcoal and pastel male nudes made from life models in short 10–20 minute studies, usually six to eight (and sometimes more) in a single night. These drawings keep the energy of observation—clean pose changes, fast structural lines, and confident value shifts.

Many pastels are made on kraft paper, which naturally suits human skin tones. Its warm mid-tone lets lights and shadows arrive quickly, so the body reads convincingly even within tight time limits. A smaller group of California life sessions uses darker toned papers to heighten contrast, giving the impression of light emerging out of darkness.
