In Love With Stopped Time captures a quiet contradiction: a strong, muscular body held in shadow, topped with a wreath that spills color like a festival. The head is hidden by flowers—yellow roses, dark reds, tangled greens—so the piece reads as both portrait and still life. Oil pastel lets the artist work fast and slow at once: quick loops in the bouquet, careful layering across the chest, shoulders, and abdomen.
The palette is intentionally unreal. Purples and greens sit in the skin, blues cut through the shadows, and warm browns keep the form believable. That color shift makes the figure feel less like a model and more like a memory—something you remember by sensation, not by exact detail.
